Xavier University of Louisiana is a 4-year private institution founded in 1925. XULA offers certificates, Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctor's degrees. The student population is 3,383 (2,517 undergraduate). The student to faculty ratio is 13 to 1. XULA is NAIA Division I (RRAC Conference) participating in men's baseball, basketball, cross country, indoor and outdoor track, tennis, competitive cheer (coed) and women's basketball, cross country, indoor and outdoor track, softball, tennis, and volleyball.

The award covers tuition and fees for students who attend a Catholic high school within the United States and are the Valedictorian or Salutatorian of their high school graduating class.
Renewable for up to 4 years. Detailed renewal requirements are provided in the college contract when the recipient is awarded the scholarship.
